If you want to know how to get rid of belly fat then avoid these mistakes and myths that are floating around. A mistake many people make is thinking that ab crunches will get rid of your stomach and that all of your belly fat can be lost in days as many ads promise. It just isn't going to happen. The only way you can successfully lose belly fat is by realizing these are common mistakes and learn the right ways to lose belly fat. The two main keys to losing belly fat are simple, and that is exercise and eating right.

Exercise is the key and to lose belly fat you both need to tone your muscles as well as burn the fat away. Now ab crunches tone your abdomen and oblique muscles but they don't burn fat. So no matter how many crunches you do your fat will still be there. This fat needs burning and the most effective ways of doing this are with resistance training, that is using some weights and using interval training as part of any cardio workouts. Interval training can be done for almost any type of exercise and consists of changing between high intensity and lower intensity. For example, you may decide to sprint for a minute then jog for 4 minutes and then sprint again for a total of 40 minutes.

In order to burn belly fat and keep it off you need to change your eating habits. Take steps today to being more health conscientious and stay away from high fat and fried foods. Concentrate instead on eating the foods that will help to burn fat. You will probably find that you will actually be eating more when you eat healthier and this in turn keeps your metabolism high. By living a healthy active life you will soon get rid of your belly fat.
