But one thing is certain – in this jungle of fashion and trends, few things are as long-lasting and quite as trustworthy as fashionable evening bags or a perfect pair of athletic shoes. The elite of sophisticated women will just refuse to simply show up in public with one of those random evening bags that everyone has access to. These are women who would kill for a designer item, something unique, that they’re unlikely to see hanging on to another ten women’s hands in the same night out at the club. Needless to say, the practical side of evening bags has long faded in favor of esthetic criteria. The way it looks, where it stands, how it matches the outfit, size, shape, color, pattern, layers… a million reasons why you should pick the right kind of bag for yourself. The best way to choose evening bags that suit you is by thinking in matters of contrast and balance with your whole outfit. If you’re going for something glamorous and flashy, one of those evening bags with pretty much the same characteristics will do nothing more than make you look tiresome. So in this case, the safe way to go would be a plain, simple, small bag that wouldn’t attract attention, but fit in with the whole picture elegantly. However, if you’re wearing that all-time favorite, the little black dress, or something similar, a bag in the same manner will make you look utterly dull. And that’s the last thing you want, isn’t it now? So it is okay, in this case, to choose one of those evening bags that have a little bit of glam - maybe a crazy animal print or something shiny attached. This is available of course when it comes to texture too – try to balance metallic with plain, shiny with matte, and so on and so forth. In spite of all the razzle-dazzle around evening bags, keeping in mind the more practical aspects of buying one such bag is a matter of virtue. Fashion virtue, that is. Focus on where you’re going and what you’re doing – try to figure out if you’re looking for a safe, large single strap bag, or a small purse that you just grab and go out. Make a brief mental inventory of the things you tend to carry around (generally, the fewer, the better) and visualize which of the available evening bags has enough space for them all. And keep in mind which type you’re more comfortable with: single or double strap, long or short, or no strap at all. And finally, simplicity in a bag must not make it dull – regardless of how simple or complex it is, any bag should be unique, preferably hand-made, and reflect the personality and mood of its possessor. When it comes to athletic shoes, though, things are slightly more complicated. The issues concerning appearance seem to plunge in the background – practical aspects are infinitely more important. And that’s because, to what concerns athletic shoes, all that which is glamorous and shiny is simply a sign of bad taste. Nobody suggests you should be plain, but good taste when you’re dressed for playing sports is as much of a must as on any other occasion. So remember that there are different types of athletic shoes, depending on exactly what kind of activity you’re looking to perform. Good athletic shoes will be made specifically for that particular sport, will keep you feeling comfortable and safe and will make you wish for no other pair. It’s a matter of common sense to invest in the right pair of athletic shoes, namely that which is most likely to keep you away from injuries and in top shape while playing.
